Our fifth annual School of Theology will be held in Palmerston North from 18th to 21st July 2011. This page provides provisional information which will be confirmed nearer the time, when online registration will also be available.
The School of Theology
This annual week of teaching and discussion is aimed at helping men who desire to be better equipped for service in their churches. It is a post-graduate level course which assumes familiarity with the Bible and Christian theology.
While it is primarily intended for men who attend churches within the Fellowship of Reformed Baptist Churches in New Zealand, others may be able to attend at the discretion of the elders (further details regarding the registration process will be available nearer the time). Participants will be expected to attend the entire School of Theology which will begin with lunch at 12:30pm on Monday 18th July 2011 and conclude with dinner the following Thursday evening (one day shorter than previous years).
GRBC members will provide accommodation to participants from outside Palmerston North who require a place to stay. In addition to morning and afternoon tea between sessions, lunch and dinner will also be provided each day. These costs are included in the registration fee.
The Subject
The 2011 School of Theology will be on the theme, Puritanism in Context. This will provide an introduction to the thought and ministries of the major Puritans in contexts of the ecclesiastical and civil struggles of the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries, and their place in the church’s theological development. Interaction and discussion during the sessions will ensure that this material will be applied with practical relevance to our local church situations.
